According to the website of Universal Pictures Home Billion Dollar Heist Entertainment, the documentary, directed by Daniel Gordon, Brendan Donovan and Bryn Evans, was released on OTT platforms, namely Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and others on August 15. The trailer of the documentary was released on YouTube channels named Universal Pictures All-Access and DocBusters on July 18. Through a variety of interviews with different cyber security specialists and author Misha Glenny, the documentary recounts how hackers were able to use the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication banking system—the messaging network banks across the world use to execute transfers between one another—to illegally move $101 million from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, reported theverge.com. On February 4, 2016, hackers tried to steal close to $1 billion from Bangladesh’s central bank’s reserve but ultimately managed to steal $101 million, including $20 million sent to a Sri Lankan account. Of the stolen money, the rest $81 million was transferred to fictitious bank accounts of Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation in Philippine and the amount was withdrawn from the bank before it became tresses in the country’s casinos.
